Cannot install Office 2021 on my Mac due to old OS can't install newest OS either - refund...

For the mac, the only OneNote version is through the store - it's not in the office installs currently.

You will be able to use OneNote.com - but I'm not aware of a way to download an older version of the software from the store if you didn't previously install it.

This trick often works for iOS, not sure if it works for mac, or if the older build of OneNote is still in the mac store, but it would require you to have another mac you can connect to your account: Install OneNote on a newer version then you might be able to install an older version on this computer.

i had the same problem like you, with using Word Version 16.45 on Mac OS Big Sur 11.1.

I figured out, that the problem raises with the update from the 15.01.21.

SOLUTION: The solution which worked for me was, to rollback to Word Version 16.44.

Just download an older Word-Version from the official Microsoft-Site (https://docs.microsoft.com/de-de/officeupdates/update-history-office-for-mac),
remove your actual Word Version and install the new one.

After that, the Styleref-Field should work again.

How is it possible to report this Bug to Microsofts Dev-Team of the Mac-Version

Hello

I am , Independent Advisor, to work with you on this issue. You should create a new notebook in Onenote online and copy the sections there from these .one files (on a Windows computer). Then you can access these onenotes from your Mac also

if I could - instead of installing Win 10 and OneNote 2016 - just subscribe to Microsoft 365 to get access to my old OneNote files on my MAC? - This won't work.

Hi Ron, you need to deactivate your previous Installation and then re-install Office 2016

Go to https://office.com/myaccount and sign in using your Microsoft account, if prompted

Select Install

Under Install information, locate the Mac which Office was installed on

Select Deactivate Install to deactivate the Office installation

Then, click Install to install Office
