Onedrive Sync problems

hello there,

I need help with onedrive - its driving me crazy. I moved my dropbox folders, at least some of them to onedrive about 16gb, and I get the error:

"Sync problems - cant uplaod . we can rename files etc.". Well I did this, I mean I let onedrive rename files, but then it returns again and again and again - I think I renamed about 34 times files, and it keeps returning. The best of all: if I try make new folder in onedrive or just try to right click - it freezes and explorer crushes down. It is pretty unusable.

Is there any way to fix this, please help?

Please try resetting the OneDrive app as described in the following article and try again:

Please resetting Microsoft OneDrive can sometimes resolve sync issues and resets all OneDrive settings. OneDrive will perform full sync after the reset.

You won't lose any data by resetting or uninstalling OneDrive.

It looks like somehow; the OneDrive is detecting invalid filename. As per the description, I understand that the filenames have all allowed character, in that case, it could be a bug.

Please be advised that as a Community Advisor(Not Microsoft Staff), I don't have access to the user's account, so it's difficult to investigate this issue further.

Nevertheless, You could OneDrive contact support with these options:

Contact OneDrive support -

OneDrive personal: If you need help, email the OneDrive support team https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2113579.

OneDrive for Business users: Select the blue OneDrive cloud icon, select More > Send feedback > I don't like something.

Hi Nik,

Even after I reinstalled Window the bug keeps coming back - its unbelivable. This time it comes evey time I restart windows, and sometimes even if I press rename onedrive stays red and crushes my explorer. On a fresh installed Windows. Microsoft, really nice work.

I contacted Onedrive support, well see if that helps. In times like these I really envy Apple people: I am fighting this problems since days. Not to mention the Problem I have with syncing Onenote, which is total mess. And I am pretty savvy in using pc and software, so I dont think this time problem is sitting in front of pc

Hi StankoBeronja,

When OneDrive can't sync a file or folder because its name contains invalid characters, OneDrive can sometimes rename it for you.

If OneDrive is able to rename the file or folder, you'll see a Rename option in the notification area. If OneDrive can't rename the file or folder automatically, you'll need to rename it yourself manually.

To look further, could you please provide me with the screenshot rename error or pop-up that you get.

Do you get this error due to an invalid filename? Also, have you prompted to change the file name on your PC or online?
