Outlook 16.40 for macOS empty deleted items folder and trash folder upon closing the program

I upgraded from a 2007 to a 2020 MacBook Pro and Outlook is very different.

How, in Outlook 16.40 for macOS, do I automatically empty deleted items folders and trash folders for my various accounts upon closing the program? In the very old Outlook, this could be configured easily, but how to do it in this brand new version?

Please select MAC OS and as per the article, the settings depend on your email address in Outlook.

Thanks, well, that's a very unfortunate step backwards in user-friendlyness. Now I have to manually empty four trash and four spam folders.

I know how to manually empty the trash and junk folders. The question was how to do it automatically upon closing the software. In the old 2007 version, you could define a rule that did just that, but that option no longer seems to exist.

From what I gather, some feature is no longer available for the newer version of Outlook.

As per the link that I have shared earlier, this is the settings of the newer version of Outlook :

"Notes:

Some kinds of e-mail accounts, such as Windows Live Hotmail accounts, automatically empty the Trash folder at predefined times.

With some email accounts you can set up a schedule in Outlook to empty your Trash folder regularly.

IMAP accounts offer multiple options for how deleted items are stored and displayed. To set your preferences, on the Tools menu, click Accounts, and then select the IMAP account in the account list. Click Advanced, click the Folders tab, and then next to Trash,
select the options that you want."
