    Outlook.com no e-mail reception. All emails are received in the desktop app.


    Outlook.com, no e-mail reception since mid-July 2024. All emails are still received in the desktop app. Sufficient memory available. Sync of calendar entries between Outlook.com and iPhone app works perfectly. When I click on “My Microsoft account” the following error message appears: This account does not exist ... What is the problem here?

    <br />I shall switch to English, to be as clear as possibe in my further questions.
    <br />Your explanations clarifys a lot.
    <br />I have added my main mail account (IMAP) to the web app, and I can see those emails.
    <br />I have added an outlook.com account to Outlook desktop, and moved calendar and contacts to that account.
    <br />This works as well. Appointments and contacts are visible in the web app, and Android sync still seems to work.
    <br />I might try to add outlook.com to Outlook on Android as well to see how that goes.
    <br />Anyway, there are still a couple of questions left:
    <br />
    • I had problems adding an outlook.com account, using the cryptic one that is displayed in the web app.
      I then created a new one under my name, used that along with my Microsoft login password, and surprisingly this worked.
      <br />The cryptic one is still displayed in the web app - *** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. ***, can I change this?

    • Now, when I start Outlook Desktop, it always goes to the Inbox of the outlook.com account.
      How can I change this so it's the inbox of the IMAP mail account? (as I'm used to)

    • I assume the mails in the outlook.com account are just a copy of the associated mail account.
      I.e. I cannot do all mail work from @outlook.com but still need to visit my IMAP account to delete mails. Correct?

    • For Outlook desktop, is Microsoft's recommendation to just use the outlook.com account, or to also have the associated accounts included?

    Is the cryptic one an address like outlook_big-ugly-code@outlook ? If so, you need to set an outlook.com address as the profile on the account.

    File > Options > Advanced - near the top is an option to choose the Startup folder. Select the inbox in the IMAP account.

    Correct - because Outlook desktop will not let you properly send mail from the connected accounts - they will always have the on behalf of tag.

    I don't think Microsoft ever made a recommendation. My recommendation is to add the accounts to outlook desktop if you need to send mail from the address so its not send on behalf of. If you are just getting incoming mail only, then you don't need it in outlook desktop.

    I've alerady answered, you haven't really read my issue. You are using translation sofware, this may be the resaon why you not understanding my issue. I've also explained already, all this "clicki clicki" stuff was tried with different support people already, we are far behind of this type of error analysis, my frustration level reached alerady an extreme level. The issue is somewhere on the backend. I really want that someone analyse the backend and explain me WHY ON ALL SYSTEMS (ALL = MACOS, iOS, WINDOWS, iPADOS) and different mail clients (WHAT IS WELL INDICATING THAT THE ISSUE APPEARS IN THE BACKEND ALREADY!!!!!) ALL MAILS FROM UNKNOWN RECIPIENS ALWAYS (ALWAYS MEANS ALWAYS) COMMING TO JUNK AND THIS ONLY (THIS MEANS 100% ONLY) FOR THE OUTLOOK.COM MAIL ACCOUNT - the 2 other mail accounts aren't showing this weird behaviour.
    Honestly, my frustration again grown a bit more as i see, that here are people with 0 language skills trying to offer support via translation tools and they are completly failing, i have to repeat again and again the same and i have no hope for a resolution.

    Good Day,

    As I wanted to access the email account *** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. ***, I received a message that this account needed to be confirmed. Now all the information apparently is not enough to prove that my mother is the owner of the account. There is no more information available more that the name of the account holder, the security question and a couple of contacts. There is no xbox account or credit card information given that it was never provided in the first place. There appears to be a verification email address to which my mother nor I know to whom it belongs.
    What to do now? Is this account going to be lost forever? there are important email there, and although the password and the account name were correctly introduced we can not get access to it? that is outrageous. To that it can be summed that there is absolutely no contact information provided that could give some insight into the situation.

    Could you please give me some insight as to what should we do to gain access to this account again?

    My name is Rhaine, I'm an Independent Advisor and community member like you.

    I am also using Windows 10 pc. Let us work together to sort this out.

    I may need to ask you some questions to isolate this issue and provide recommendation.

    - How do you access your emails using Outlook app or Outlook.com web?

    - What email domain provider you are using is it @Outlook.com/Hotmail or a third-party email address?

    The error you are getting is usually happen if there are 2 or more folders have the same folder name.

    You can open your emails using a browser or if you are using the app , check the folders that has the same name and delete them.

    You need to expand all your folders for you to locate them.

    Once deleted you need to delete it as well in the deleted items folder.
