Solved, hopefully - Some parts of the text were 'formatted' to English (US), so when I sliced it into pieces it jumped back to that language. Since this isn't a visible formatting, it can be treacherous since it's not obvious which parts of the text are
set to which language.

maybe I should specify a bit. I am talking about a public Sharepoint Site, here I have a list of Subsites which I want to export. I know it works for an "Intranet" with document libraries and lists, but for a Site library on a public sharepoint site, the
menu item does not exist.

What you are inserting is not a field, nor is it a built-in document property, but rather a content control "mapped" to the document's XML reflecting that document property. It allows you to type information in your document and have it become the content of
the document property. It also shows what the current value of that property is.

If what you want is simply something that tells you what the value of the status is, you could insert a DocProperty Field. I can show you how to do that with vba.
