Does Perfume Expire or Am I Imagining Things?

I recently found an old perfume bottle that I hadn't used in years. The bottle looked completely fine, but when I sprayed it, the scent seemed different from what I remembered. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't as fresh or vibrant as before.

That got me wondering: does perfume expire?

After doing some research, I learned that perfume can actually change over time. Factors like sunlight, heat, air exposure, and humidity can affect the fragrance oils and age the scent. Apparently, most perfumes can last several years, but proper storage makes a huge difference.

Some common signs of an aging perfume include:

• Darker liquid color
• Weaker performance
• Strange or sour smell
• Missing top notes

I've started storing my fragrances in a cool, dark place instead of the bathroom because temperature changes can speed up the aging process.
