Installer requires IE to open, but it's somehow blocked

Hi

My problem is, I need 2 installers (for flightsiming; Active Sky 16 & Digital Design Salzburg for P3D) to open up a window in Internet Explorer, just to enter registration details for activation, but IE11 is somehow not opening up for me and only gives me this message:

"Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or higher is required to run this program
You do not currently have Microsoft Internet Explorer installed, or it is not working correctly. Obtain a newer version at microsoft.com and then run the setup again."

But Internet Explorer 11 is correctly installed and working fine, it is ticked in the control panel under "activate and deactivate windows features", sfc /scannow didn't detect any missing files, and I even tried to reinstall IE, still nothing working.

So it seems something is blocking IE to open up, if started via another program (installers in this case).

I run Windows 10 64bit, updated from 8.1 and respectively 8. Internet Explorer and other browsers like Edge and Google Chrome are working fine, also switching between default browsers didn't help.

How can I fix this?
