Installing OneNote 2016 or at least importing my Notebooks

I tried the download link here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/how-to-install-onenote-2016-instead-of-just/774af256-0189-4416-a7dd-29c9f77e8e09:https://www.onenote.com/downloadThat just ends up with a reinstallation of Office 365, including OneNote for Windows 10 NOT OneNote 2016.I don't care which OneNote version I am using, I just need to access my old notebook again from a previous computer. I have all the files in .one and .onetoc2 format locally saved on my computer. There seems to be no option in OneNote for Windows 10 to open any of these files.How do I access

This download only produces a misleading message about Office, but it installs OneNote 2016.
 Which is now called just OneNote.
 To open local notebooks with it (your case) you need a Office 365 license.

I am , Independent Advisor, to work with you on this issue. You should create a new notebook in Onenote online and copy the sections there from these .one files (on a Windows computer). Then you can access these onenotes from your Mac also

if I could - instead of installing Win 10 and OneNote 2016 - just subscribe to Microsoft 365 to get access to my old OneNote files on my MAC? - This won't work.

I re-installed and updated not to early -Insider, but late -insider.

Then it worked.

Seems that the early insider built has some serious issues (at least with my setup..)
