How this works:
You probably wondered why there aren’t any decent music players on the marketplace. That is due to Microsoft’s limitation around the music and video library on the phone. They protect the library by allowing only basic access to third party developer to your music and videos.
Media library mode allows you to manipulate the built-in phone media player. You will not be able to make playlists inside this app(use the built-in app instead) nor will you be able to change the order of tracks in the playback queue.
The Local storage mode implies having your music files stored inside the app’s storage. The music+videos hub will not be able to see the songs, but on the bright side you will have complete access to advanced playback options.
Getting the music inside the app’s storage is a little trickier. You have 3 options
1.Upload to skydrive, then download them. Create a folder called “Media Player” on the root of your skydrive, upload your music there, then sign in from the app and follow instructions.
2.Transfer using the Desktop Client. See the Wireless Transfers Page.
3.If you use Windows phone 8 with SD card, you can transfer files using the Desktop Client to your SD card. Transferring them manually will not work properly.

The desktop client is a basic app that helps you manage transfers and SD cards. It will require admin privileges in order to work because it listens a specific port in order to make the transfers possible.
