    Dear Helper,


    I am using Microsoft Outlook, installed on my PC. I would like to be prompted for credentials every time I open outlook on my PC. That is not what is happening, however.


    Two common solutions related to this issue do not apply.


    1. The "Always prompt for credentials" box is ticked.


    2. My PC has not stored any login credentials in control panel - user accounts.


    Why does Outlook not prompt me to enter my password?

    Could you please check the local cache and delete creds from there

    • Clear credentials.

    1. File>Account>under User Information, sign out all the existing account and exit all Office apps.

    2. Control Panel>User Accounts>credential manager>Windows Credentials, remove all Office 365 credentials that look like: MicrosoftOfficeXXData:XXXXXXXXX

    3. Right click windows icon>Run>type "regedit" then press ENTER to open the redistry editor. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity, delete the whole Identity folder

    4. Restart computer.

    Do you have other versions of MS Office installed side by side? if, no and still the issue is not fixed using above method. please try to Repair Outlook.

    Outlook 2010/2013/2016/365

    1. Open up the Control Panel on your PC (and show All Control Panel items, if necessary) and click on Programs, then Programs and Features.

    2. Find Microsoft Office 2010/2013/2016 in the list and highlight it. (Selection also say Microsoft Office 365)

    3. Click Change.

    4. Select Repair and Continue then follow the prompts.

    5. After the repair is finished, please try the sync again.

    Hast Du bereits probiert unter: Control Panel > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials > Generic Credentials alle Einträge, die MicrosoftOffice15_Data und MicrosoftOffice16_Data sind zu entfernen?

    Configure modern authentication in Exchange Online or Exchange Server:

    Modern authentication is a process that enables identity management for client-server applications, such as Outlook, to use Single Sign-On (SSO) to authenticate to Exchange. You can enable modern authentication in Exchange Online by using the Exchange Admin Center (EAC) or by using the Exchange Management Shell.

    Check the credentials prompt settings in the Outlook client:

    In the Outlook client, go to File > Options > Account Settings > Account Settings. In the Account Settings window, select the email account and click the Change button. In the Change Account window, make sure that the "Use Cached Exchange Mode" checkbox is not selected.

    Reset Windows Credential Manager:

    In Windows, you can reset the Windows Credential Manager to remove any cached credentials that may be causing the issue. To do this, go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Credential Manager. Find the entry for the affected email account and remove it.

    Update the certificate that the Microsoft AAD Broker Plugin is using:

    The Microsoft AAD Broker Plugin may be using an outdated or invalid certificate that is causing the issue. You can update the certificate by downloading the latest version of the plugin from the Microsoft website and installing it on your system.

    More info: While we're focused on remediation, users that have access to other protocols such as Outlook on the web or mobile devices can access their email without issue. Additionally, customers who are able to use Modern Authentication may enable it to mitigate
