OneDrive folder on iPad hidden from file system GUI

In the actual version of OneDrive for iPad 12.19.5 and the iPad OS 14.4, it is not possible any more to open any file saved in OneDrive from a non-Microsoft app – included the files app:

The OneDrive folder as an address to open files from simply disappeared from the open dialog of any non-Microsoft application.

This makes OneDrive for iPad virtually unusable.

In many companies and schools, OneDrive is not only a place to collaborate within the office365 applications, but also a "generic" cloud, where any files are shared. It's new disability makes it worthless as a cloud application for schools and companies.

Please, restore the ability to open files from OneDrive folders with any app on an iPad!

Hello everybody!

As of March 9th, the problem seems to be resolved:
 It's possible again to select OneDrive in the setting of the Files app on iPad OS.
 When it's selected here, files on OneDrive can seemingly be opened in any app on the iPad.

Your reply does not really touch my problem: It actually WAS possible to open files stored on OneDrive e.g. from the files app. But as of the last update this possibility seems to be removed.
 Please don't tell me that Microsoft does not want the users to use use OneDrive as a generic file sharing cloud! This must be a bug! And – as I told you before – it's new!
 Some weeks ago, there wasn't any problem to import e.g. a pdf stored on OneDrive from the GoodNotes app. No, it's become impossible.
 Thank you in advance for telling the developers to fix that!

Where did you save this file?

On desktop or Onedrive?

If you saved to desktop, go to the Temp folder on your computer. Search for all files that are the same size as your PPT file and open them directly in PowerPoint.

Access temp folder:

Open the start menu > Type: %temp% > OK

Make sure your file is there. If not, let me know!

danke für den Ansatz.

Die beiden Technologien sind doch sehr Unterschiedlich und ich denke nicht, dass unser Problem damit zusammenhängt.

Hinter Work Folder steckt ein anderer Ansatz als bei Offline Files (gerade um Sync-Problematiken aus dem Weg zu gehen).

Bei den Offline Files hält der Client ja die Serverdatei als Kopie in irgendeinem Hidden-Folder vor und greift auch nur bei fehlender Verbindung zum Server auf diese Kopien zu.

Bei Work Folder hat der Client eine eine Datei in seinem Ordner "Work Folder" (vollständig lokale Datei) und greift auch immer nur auf diese lokale Datei zu. Diese Datei wird dann bei Änderung und Aufhebung der Sperrung durch Schließen auf den Workfolderserver
kopiert.
