SMTP on hotmail / live / outlook.com suddenly not working

Hello,

i've been using hotmail for years now and also didn't have any problems with the changes made to the service reducing the number of compatible email clients.

I'm using thunderbird since then - and now suddenly 3 days ago - i wasn't able to send emails anymore. Receiving is fine, but i cannot connect to smtp-mail.outlook.com ...

I didn't have any changes in software or setting - and also tried solving through removing and reinstalling the account configuration .. without any success.

I just double checked with my iphone and that standard mail app: sending is fine there. So it seems to be a sudden/out of nowhere problem with thunderbird (i also updated that) or the receiving end on the MS side concerning protocols.

Any hints, infos, ideas?

Zusätzlich beobachtetes Verhalten:

Das Empfangen von Mails funktioniert - ebenso das Abspeichern von ENtwürfen und automatische Synchronisieren mit dem Server. Hier liegen dann die ungesendeten Emails im Entwurfsordner. Also alles außer dem smtp funktioniert.

damit ich Dir weiterhelfen kann, würde ich Dich bitten das betroffene Konto in der Privatnachricht anzugeben. Damit Du die Privatnachricht sehen kannst und Du Zugang zu dieser hast, solltest Du in der Microsoft Community eingeloggt
sein. Bitte gebe mir hier im Thread mit eine Post kurz Bescheid, dass die Angabe gemacht wurde.

thanks and sorry for the confusion - i wasn't aware of the forum being german.

Ich nehme gerne Support in deutsch entgegen

ansonsten würde englisch auch funktionieren, falls ansonsten gerade niemand verfügbar ist.

Zur Frage und meinem Problem:

1. Nach dem Klicken des "Senden" Buttons erscheint ein kleines Statusfenster mit dem Text: " Nachricht wird gesendet - "Betreff" " - darunter der Vorgang': Verbinden mit smtp-mail.outlook.com und ein grüner, vollständiger Fortschrittsbalken.

Im Footer der Email wird ebenfalls der Verbindungsversuch zum smtp angezeigt.

2. In diesem Zustand verweilt Thunderbird dann ca. 3-4 Minuten - vermutlich einem Timeout.

3. Letztlich erscheint eine Fehlermeldung mit gelbem Warnsymbol und dem Titel: Senden der Nachricht fehlgeschlagen. Text: Die Nachricht konnte nicht gesendet werden, weil die Verbindung mit dem SMTP-Server "smtp-mail...." ihre Ablaufzeit (Timerout) überschritten
hat. Versuchen Sie es nochmals. [OK]Button

As for your question, can you tell us the full error message appearing when you try to send a mail via your Outlook email account from Thunderbird?
