Windows Update Client - Event ID 25 - Windows Update failed to check for updates with error...

I recently enabled Windows Event Forwarding on our WSUS server and created some subscriptions for certain events. One subscription is focusing on Windows Update errors (event ids 20, 24, 25, 31, 34 and 35).

If i do check the forwarded events on the WSUS server i get flooded by the following error

> Event ID: 25

> Task Category: Windows Update Agent

> Log: Microsoft-Windows-WindowsUpdateClient/Operational

from all clients (Windows 7, 8.1. and 10).

The general error description contains

> Windows Update failed to check for update with error 0x8024500C

The clients still seem to report the status to the wsus-server, so it's most likely not a general communication problem.
